If you have a sensitive mouse, any vibration near your PC could be keeping your machine awake. Try these steps to prevent the mouse from waking your machine.

But, surprisingly, switching the settings back to original values did not cause previous problems to reappear! Try to get a different mouse pad. I tried all the steps non worked then i removed my mouse pad and pc went to sleep.

Once I found out which one it was I then disabled it permanently. This solved all my problems! Hope this helps someone as it took me a long time to figure out. I have tried all these but they do not work for me. No devices are set to wake the PC, no wake timers are active. I found this issue to be tied to Steam the cloud PC gaming platform. The recommendation and successful test I performed was to change steam to the library page versus the home.

After doing this my monitor successfully went to sleep. All of the answers did not help me. Open Start Menu 2. Type cmd 3. Enabling tracing for 60 seconds… Observing system behavior…!!

Check what mouse you are using. My old mouse had a sleep facility but eventually died. It was something that simple. Recently, I encountered a strange problem: I would try to wake up the PC, only to find out it has already been shut down powered off. Previously, tapping a keyboard key twice would instantly wake up the PC.

I tried all of these and other suggestions and none of them worked. If that happens to you, consider replacing your mouse. My old mouse was a Razer Ouroborus; new one is a Razer Mamba. Thank you. Like most others in the list I was frustrated by on-all-the-time monitors even with the sleep time set to 15 minutes.Keep in touch and stay productive with Teams and Officeeven when you're working remotely. This must be taken with a grain of salt. What works for me, on my computer, may or may not work for you on your computer.

Asus laptop won't sleep

So-called identical computers are not truly identical. Just as identical twins have differing opinions, tastes and desires, so too, it would seem, do computers. This will run in the background for about one minute. When it has finished, there should be some results shown:. In this scan it showed 8 Errors, 11 Warnings, and 21 Informational messages, pretty useless until you read the file it created.

There will be a path to an HTML file which can be opened in any browser. Your results will most likely be different. In my case, it was a Realtek sound driver leading to pulling hair out.

Doing that solved the problem, but only temporarily. This time, things were going to be different! My final act was to uninstall the offending Realtek sound drivers and, heaven help me, let Windows install its own generic Microsoft MS sound drivers instead. Believe me when I tell you this is, for me, a desperate act.

I never use dedicated Device Drivers from MS unless there is no way around it. Note : If you really want to get rid of everything related to the driver, then check that little box to delete the driver software. Uninstalling a Device is not the same as getting rid of the software that drives it. If you have chosen to uninstall a driver, it might be a good idea to re-boot your computer. This will guarantee that Windows will replace the driver with one of its own.

I have no idea whatsoever why a sound driver would have anything to do with Windows sleeping. It makes no sense to me. All I know is that eliminating it works for me. In this particular case one would have to choose between an ill-behaved Windows going tuck-tuck when it is supposed to, or having a more controllable sound system.Asus is a computer company that produces components such as motherboards and video cards for many laptop and desktop brands.

In addition, Asus also produces their own line of laptop computers. Like many laptops, Asus laptops go into "sleep" mode if the lid is closed or if you have the laptop set to "sleep" after a certain period of idle time.

Occasionally the laptop may get "stuck" in sleep mode either due to a mechanical issue with the lid mechanism or a frozen operating system.

Verify that the computer's power supply is plugged into a power strip or wall outlet. Sometimes a laptop will remain in sleep mode if the battery is very low. Open the lid of the laptop and wait a few seconds. If the screen stays blank, press any key or move your finger across the "trackpad. Close the laptop lid. Wait a few seconds and reopen the lid.

Be sure to open the lid fully. Check next to and under the lid hinges for a small nub shaped button or tab. Some Asus laptops have this nub which raises when the lid goes up to signal the screen to turn on. Use your finger to press the nub in and then release. If your Asus does not appear to have this nub or this does not solve the problem, proceed to Step 4. Check the lid latch on the laptop.

Some Asus models have a latch on the laptop in front of the trackpad. This latch slips into an opening on the top inside of the lid. Open the lid and check inside both the latch and the opening for any debris. Slide the latch "switch" back and forth in case the mechanism is stuck.

If this still does not solve the problem, proceed to Step 5. Locate the "Asus power button" on the top right just above the keyboard. Press and hold down the button for up to a minute until you hear a beep or hear the hard drive start up again. This will restart the computer and take it out of sleep mode.
